Course Description:
The Advanced Algebra 1 Topics course is ideal for all students who are about to take a whole year Algebra 1 course for the first time, or for those students entering the second year of a two-year algebra one program. Some students have also benefited from using this class as a review of the vital Algebra one skills before proceeding to Algebra 2 or Geometry.
This course will provide your student with the distinct advantage of learning the skills needed to succeed in Algebra 1, which is the foundation for all high school math classes. A strong foundation in Algebra 1 will also provide an advantage as students take important assessments such as the PSSA and SAT®.
The course topics will include a brief review of the foundations of algebra, graphing linear equations, solving quadratic and special equations, solving systems of equations, solving inequalities, operations with polynomials, factoring polynomials, and simplifying radicals.
