Course Description:
Geometry is the subject that accounts for approximately one-third of the math questions on the SAT. It is often learned two or three years prior to taking the test. This course will review the skills necessary to succeed on not only the SAT, but any high school level geometry class. Topics that will be covered shall include the properties of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, similarity and parallel lines. Area, perimeter, surface area, and volume formulas will be explained and applied. The Pythagorean theorem will be discussed, as will the time saving short cuts that are frequently applied on timed tests, like the SAT. Formal geometric proofs will be introduced and integrated throughout the program.
